the previous section described the parts of a case in order to make it easier to read and identify the pertinent information that you will use to create your briefs. to the extent that more elements will help with organization and use of the brief, include them. remember that the purpose of a brief is to remind you of the important details that make the case significant in terms of the law. you should also include the facts that are dispositive to the decision in the case. many of you probably already read with a pencil or pen, but if you do not, now is the time to get in the habit.
